The nights are drawing in, the leaves are turning orange and falling from the trees, there’s a chill in the air; it must be time for the Old Cannon Brewery’s new autumn menu. We launch a different menu each season, packed with locally sourced produce and homemade meals and this autumn is no different.
Filled with Old Cannon Favourites; Beer battered cod and chips, Gunner’s Daughter Sausage and mash and Sirloin steak, our menu also offers new, exciting dishes to tempt your taste buds. Try our Roast duck with a sweet potato puree, kale and a blackcurrant sauce or if you fancy something a bit different, try our Pan fried salmon fillet with cockles and deep fried breaded mussels.
“Using locally sourced produce is very important to us and we have regular shipments of organic fruit and veg from the Cotton Lane Allotments, just a few streets over. Fred actually brings them in a wheelbarrow fresh picked out of the ground!” Says Charlie, Marketing and Events assistant.
We also get organic, locally grown produce from our sister restaurant; The Bear Inn Beyton. Garry, owner of both restaurants says; “We’ve recently taken on the Bear and one of the first things we did was build a vegetable garden using railway sleepers. These raised beds were seeded early on in the year and throughout the summer and autumn we’ve been seeing, and our customers have been eating, the fruits of our labour. It’s all very satisfying seeing what you’ve planted grow into something you can then eat.”
“This menu just conjures up images of autumn, from our toffee apple crumble making you think of sharp green apples mixed with the gooey soft sweetness of toffee to our Butternut squash, ricotta and pine nut conchiglioni which is full of autumn flavours.” adds Adrian, Head Chef.
The new Autumn menu launches Monday 12th September 2016.
Many items on the menu are gluten free and are also suitable for vegetarians.
